Match Report | Plymouth uni 3rds comes out on top after a 9 goal encounter at fort lipson the fines factory The preparation for the game started well on Friday night with an intensive hour session lead by stand in coach-supreme hobbers. A large amount of players being 'rested' this week allowed for number of 4s players to step up in an unprecedented move by the selection committee. As the bare 11 team met it rapidly became apparent that late night antics in bac bar had taken it's toll on the chairman and Visser; who protested he was "still an athlete". The game started with the Bodmin struggling to control Jason (shammy's mate), Russ and shammy supported by the hungover chair and wurly moving dynamically on the wings. This aggression paid off with the uni leaving the field for half time 3 goals up (yeeees). The second half started with a resurgent Bodmin scoring to open their account before quickly adding a second celebrated by their center-mid retrieving the ball from the uni net and carrying it back to the halfway line symbolising the comeback was on! With their lead cut to 1 uni had to act to stabilise the ship. With no substitutes available this meant players on the pitch had to work, as daft punk once put it; harder, better, faster, stronger. Enter beer and phill, utilising intelligent positioning to hold the Bodmin's counter attacking tactics. Needing more goals to seal off the match uni scored again from an unorthodox deflection at a short by captain Puttock; don't question his methods, question his results. The rain then opened up like a cow pissing on a flat stone. Leading to localised flooding on the field of play. This dampened everyone's appetite for hockey apart from shammy, claiming his hatrick by slotting in an almost overly casual tommerhawk from the top of the D. Well done mate. The game finally finished 6-3 to uni with a mention going to Lewis who 'observed' the entirety of game live despite the biblical amounts of rain falling from the heavens. A strong performance from all with congratulations going to beer for being voted man of the match by his brothers in arms. When asked how the he felt about the game the Uphc 3s spokesman replied: "Yes, it's delightful; reminds me of a sort of mellow John Smiths but its quite nice." |
