The UPHC Rangers Surge into a 9 Game unbeaten streak

The Plymouth Rangers continue their fine form against Camborne School of ….. In a battle similar to the battle of Naboo in Star wars 1.

A typical Australian day, with sunshine and the rays beating down on the athlete’s skin is what they have wished for. But instead the normal heavy down pour and high winds was unleashed at the fort Lipson for their twilight start.

Both teams were well prepared having the whole day to recover from the night before. Some UPHC members were thought to be in dark place, similar to a Quasar like atmosphere with Voodoo being host for a cyantific night.

The game started after another well led team talk from the captain, getting his team fired up. Camborne SoM ( or CSM as they referred themselves ) put some early pressure on the rangers with some menacing attacking play that led to some squeaky moments at the back. The Ranger’s were in for a hard game as CSM had more dishes than Nasa. The Uni, resembling a sponge type material, absorbed the countless attacks that the M.iners displayed. However BB saw Joc, Tokyo drifting away from his defender into the corner of the D, which allowed him to play him through. With such an acute angle, and 4 defenders and the goalie, the best he could hope for was a short corner. But what was that? A signal for a goal??? Surely not. Within a blink of an eye, Joc, against all odds had powered the ball in the goal without anyone seeing. 1-0 UPHC with some of the pressure that had been built up released.

Another attacking spell from CSM led to a lapse of concentration from the defence. CSM scored, it was dire, not even worth a mention. Lucky pinball esque play with defender, goalie and attackers meant the ball popped out in the goal. 1-1

Second half was moments away with both teams looked content to go into the break on levels terms. But Toddy had other ideas, With his persistence he was able to strike the ball goal bound, but multiple defenders feet were in the way. Not hearing the whistle, toddy pursued to strike the ball on the defenders feet who were in the way of the goal. The whistle blew, Penalty Flick surely…. NO, short corner was given. Toddy in an out raged cried.

“ They should just give the bloody goal, I mean, it is going in and he stopped it with his feet.. MULITPLE TIMES. Just give the goal” ( Tod, R 2015, Lipson )

The short corner was well worked, and a flick on goal from captain made the CSM defender stop it WITH HIS FOOT AGAIN. A collective cry from UPHC soared, but this time the P flick was given. Up stepped the captain, having scored his 7 previous flicks, 2-1 was on the cards. The moment came, and 2-….. Wait? WHAT? MISS? Total shock and awe descended on the Fort as he put it wide. His 100% record now obsolescent.

Half time team talk was used to reflect on the good half which the uni had. Lewis, put his woeful miss behind him as he knew his was the fuselage of the team and had to carry his #sqaud to victory.

The second half started the same as the first, with some equally squeaky moments coming from some good, but not clinical plays. Woolas, in goal was similar to Neuer, was determine to keep CSM out by producing some unbelievable saves keeping the Uni ahead. But unlike the 1st half, The Uni had dominance half way through the second half, winning a hopeful short corner. Using their go to short corner routine, Captain slapped it back post ready for Joc to deflect it past the keeper. This time it was 2-1.

The Uni didn’t let off this pressure. With TJ winning the ball back in defence, he launched in forward high and into the corner. This left Toddy having to do a lot of leg work late in the game. The scouser had done, like Daniel Sturridge, oh sorry wrong team, Like…. Naismith I guess, With some fancy ball skills, Toddy drove the baselines, leaving the CSM defenders bewildered, then unselfishingly passed to Joc on the back post for him to complete his hat trick. 3-1. The Uni had done it, The game finished 3-1with The Rangers left feeling on top of the Fort and find themselves 3 points from top, with the next game being the Team at the top… Penzance.
